Normal wear and tear occurs in an apartment while you live there, and sometimes something breaks. Report any faults or defects to Asuntopalvelu and we will take care of the matter. In urgent cases (for example a water leak), call property maintenance to the site.

You can make ordinary fault reports electronically, and they are automatically forwarded to the right person.

Before making a fault report, please check whether the matter is the responsibility of the tenant or of property maintenance.

 

These tasks are the tenant’s responsibility:

  • replacing ceiling light bulbs and fluorescent tubes, as well as the oven and refrigerator bulbs, during the tenancy
  • the installation of a dishwasher and a washing machine must always be carried out by a professional, and a leak tray must be placed under the dishwasher
  • cleaning and washing the cooker hood filter
  • cleaning the floor drains
  • monitoring the condition of the window and door seals
  • cleaning the refrigeration appliances and vacuuming their grilles
  • installing a smoke alarm in the apartment, checking the smoke alarm once a month and replacing the battery when needed (not in properties that have an automatic fire alarm system)

 

Maintenance tips for everyday housing problems

Changing light bulbs
Buying and changing the light bulbs in the apartment are the tenant’s responsibility. Contact maintenance if you
need help with changing a bulb.

Windows
If you feel a draught near a window, always check first that all the window latches are properly closed. You can get window keys from maintenance if needed. The supply air vents above the window must not be closed completely. Ventilation must be ensured in the apartment at all times. In severe frost, one of the latches may be closed temporarily.

Fixture shut-off valve
If the toilet cistern or its other parts start to leak, close the fixture shut-off valve behind the toilet as a first measure. The water supply stops and greater damage is prevented. If your toilet is leaking, always contact maintenance!

Cooker hood
Remember to clean the cooker hood filters regularly! The filter can be cleaned by washing it in warm water with dishwashing detergent.
