When will I receive an apartment offer?

Apartment applications are processed every day. If you have submitted an apartment application, you may even receive an apartment offer on the same day.

If your need for housing will only become current months from the date on which you submit an apartment application, you may receive an apartment offer nearer the time that you will need housing. Rent agreements have a notice period of one calendar month, so we cannot know in e.g. January what will be available in June.

For students, we aim to make apartment offers for autumn during the spring, if the apartment applicant has applied for an apartment in a summer hotel site.

If there is no available apartment that fully meets your search terms, we will offer another site if there are any available.

Apartment offers are primarily sent by email. Please give an email address that you check regularly on your apartment application. Also check your spam folder, because some email providers automatically move emails from us into the spam or junk folder.

If your application does not contain an email address, we will send an apartment offer by post or call the applicant.

How can I accept the apartment offer I have received?

For student housing we do not require a security deposit at all. An exception to this are applicants with bad credit records. In such cases, the security deposit may amount to an equivalent of 1–3 months’ rent. You can accept an apartment offer by calling, emailing, or visiting Asuntopalvelu in person.

Savonlinnan Vuokratalot Oy will collect the security deposit. Payment information for the security deposit is always included in the apartment offer. By paying the security deposit by the due date, you will ensure that the offered apartment becomes yours.

Please get in touch by the apartment offer due date at the latest to prevent the offer from expiring. If the offer expires and your response to the apartment offer is late, we may have already offered the apartment to the next applicant.

What happens if I reject an apartment offer?

If you reject an apartment offer, we will ask whether you still want to wait for an apartment. Please not that you will not automatically remain on the list for an apartment if you reject an apartment offer or if you fail to respond to an offer during the offer validity period.

Please inform us if you receive an apartment from elsewhere so that we can cancel the apartment offer sent to you and remove your apartment application from the list.

If for some reason you do not like the offered apartment and have therefore rejected the offer, we will keep your apartment application on the list and make a new apartment offer when a suitable apartment becomes available. Sometimes you may have to wait a while for an apartment if there are no suitable apartments available at your preferred site.

You do not need to submit a new apartment application if you reject an apartment offer.

If no response to an apartment offer is received during the offer validity period, the system will automatically cancel the offer and the applicant will also be removed from the waiting list.

For this reason, please always contact us if you have received an apartment offer.

How can I pay the security deposit?

For student housing we do not require a security deposit at all. An exception to this are applicants with bad credit records. In such cases, the security deposit may amount to an equivalent of 1–3 months’ rent.

Savonlinnan Vuokratalot Oy will charge a security deposit of €170 or €260 depending on the size of the apartment. An exception to this are applicants with bad credit records. In such cases, the security deposit may amount to an equivalent of 1–3 months’ rent.

You can also pay the security deposit at a bank, by using online banking, or by using a bank card at our office. For security reasons we cannot accept cash. In addition to monetary security deposits, we also accept payment vouchers from KELA.

For sites that charge a security deposit, the security deposit must be paid before signing the rent agreement.

The paid security deposit will not accrue interest.

Please do not pay rent using the payment information for the security deposit.

The security deposit will be returned to the customer once the rent agreement ends, within two months of the rent agreement ending. The security deposit will be returned in full if the tenant does not have any outstanding payments relating to the rent agreement, the apartment has been handed over to the lessor in a normal condition, and all keys have been returned on time. The security deposit cannot be used to pay for the final month’s rent. The lessor can use the security deposit to offset liabilities without consulting the tenant.

Please note that in order to return the security deposit, we will need your current account number in IBAN format. It will not be possible to return the security deposit if you have not provided your account number or if there is not enough information. We do not see the payer’s account number on paid security deposits.

Payment vouchers are returned to the organisation that granted them.
